Even if you are not a history person, you know about this. A war that lasted for 6 years affected not only over 100 million population directly but also turned this world's rules and regulations upside down. We all heard at least dozens of stories and read in our history books about the Second World War and what brought it to an end. We all know it and even though it has always been a part of history that intrigues us for obvious reasons, after some point we prefer to not talk or think about it. Hitler, their leader has become an everlasting name in the history for all the wrong reasons. From his provoking speeches to his unpredictable yet tough orders, everything about this man scared millions.
What we are about to tell you today is one of Hitler's darkest Secrets, recently unearthed by the Archaeologists that were too hard to explain in words...
The Nazis were the reason behind all this and when the war was finally on the verge of the end, the Nazi empire was too busy to clear all the mess they created over the years. Sadly, the damage was so huge that it could hardly hide for too long. After years of searches, a recent discovery answered so many questions and ended a big-time confusion.
While the world was at war the fate of the jews as well as other minorities seemed in danger. What was going on the lands occupied by the Nazis was too difficult to explain. The people were living in fear. Not even ladies, elderly and kids were left out. But when the war was about to end and the Nazis knew their time was over, they did all that was left in their hands to cover up the chaos by an unforgettable decision.
Just to hide what they have been up to, the Nazis tried to burn all the evidence to the ground. Needless to say that the witnesses were also on the list. Throughout the Third Reich Hitler's orders were followed, the extermination facilities were burned, and thousands of lives were ended within these facilities.
Even today we don't know if we are sure about the total number of locations where Nazis built up their camps which were the place for ghastly mistreatment of the population that were not allowed to live in the society as per the Nazi's rules. There were places that people prefer to die before going there. One such place was Sobibor, Poland, a death camp was recently excavated. The archaeologists were stunned as they never expected this sort of findings. The discovery was beyond expectations.
Poland was one of the most affected zones. The scars were so deep that it left permanent marks on the country. After all the country remained under Nazis rule from the beginning till the end of the Second World War. It became land to one of the worst Nazi Concentration Camps and Extermination Camps. Auschwitz and Treblinka were the lands surrounded by the terror. So, when the Nazi's time came to an end their priority was to hide all that went on in Poland. Were they able to hide it forever? Not for too long.
Jews, communists, homosexuals, Catholics and more were sent every day from across Europe to these camps. Hardly anyone ever made out of these camps. Everyone heard of the heartbreaking stories of what used to happen to these people. It became one of the major atrocities during World War II and what people didn't know that a majority of the Nazi camps stayed secret. The extermination can be ranked highest in the list of crime. Nobody to say anything and all those people who were brought to the camps, their lives were of no value to the Nazis.
These sites were working with a particular motive, an unfair inhumane purpose. All the jews and minorities were supposed to end their lives within the walls of these camps. Nobody was spared and given the same torture as others, despite their ages, gender. After all, as per the Nazis, these people were not good for society and they didn't deserve to live.
Out of all extermination camps within the boundaries of Poland, Sobibor became one of the extreme cases. At this camp, there were some pre-decided punishments for all the people who entered. The truth was that all the punishments lead to just one thing, ie, death.
When these people were loaded into trains and sent to Sobibor, the terror of what will happen to them next was on every face. Death was given in painful and disheartening manner. Living in these camps was still more difficult, more painful, more torturing than death. No matter how painful the death is, it led to "the end". The recent that we are here to discuss today is about the details about what went down in these camps and how the people were forced to die.
Archaeologists least expected it but the discoveries made at this location were much more than anyone could have imagined. When the archaeologists tried to build a connection between these discoveries and what had happened in these camps, the real picture started to appear.
According to them, this camp was a part of Operation Reinhard. This secret operation started at the deadliest phase of the Holocaust. More than two million people lost their lives just because of this operation; killed under the legal process.
Operation Reinhard had a mission and its target were Polish Jews. What happened to the targets was quite clear. Each and every Polish Jew that was caught by Nazi Germany was sent to the extermination camp. The archaeologists now have evidence and can tell with surety what happened when they were taken to Sobibor.
Removing every single Jew from the Earth was Nazis first priority. Unfortunately, Operation Reinhard was successful, thanks to the Nazis passion towards Jews' mass killing. Even the Germans were horrified after listening to the stories of Operation Reinhard.
Yes, the Nazis took pride in whatever they did but when the Allied powers finally defeated them, they knew their time was up. An announcement was made to bring each and every German officer into custody. The Nazis tried hard to hide their crimes... The truth is now out and in front of the whole world though.
What do you think they might have done to hide it all? To erase all the traces? Well, not only did they burned all their extermination camps but also they ensured that all the graves were covered with concrete. Although they thought there was nothing else left behind to be covered they were wrong.
The Nazis were equally good at committing crimes and hiding those crimes. They had it all planned. The chances were quite high that no one will ever know where this evidence was hidden. But fate had its plan and it was time for the truth to be revealed. The minors details were missed by the Nazi soldiers which were recently discovered. A team of Polish and Israeli archaeologists initiated a search at the Sobibor location and it didn't take much longer before they find it all.
Why did these archaeologists choose specifically this site? The curiosity to uncover the Nazis reality in front of the world brought them here. What took place in Sobibor has always been a matter of discussion among the locals and when one of the archaeologists heard these stories, the whole team came together to give it a chance. The mission was to learn more about the history of the Holocaust.
The archaeologists wanted to disclose the truth of the location. They wanted to know how many of these stories are true and to what extent. This will directly bring peace to the victims whose lives ended at this location and to the people who grew listening to these stories. The search was initiated in the surroundings as well as the main site that people used to talk about.
The Second World War and what all took place during the war still breaks people's heart. The reasons to kill people have not justified in any way. They were killed for being born the way they were born. Anything and everything related to this war still affect people and so this discovery was going to play a significant role too.
One of the most important reasons to try to know the truth behind the extermination site was the connection that one of the archaeologists had with the Holocaust. Yoram Kaimi, an Israelian Archaeologists was part of the excavation team and could never forget what the war has taken away from him. As a kid, he lost two of his uncles to these camps. This gave him a reason to look forward to these sites and the truth that they have been hiding from the world for too long.
The people who were not affected by the Holocaust can also understand the pain and agony that come to those who lost their loved ones to these camps. Knowing that any one of their family has been through any of it is enough to leave a person in misery. Now you can think of how important it became for Yoram.
When the excavation began it took several days before archaeologists started getting the evidence. This gives them a reason to proceed with their mission. The site hides a lot worse truth inside it. Throughout the camp, the research team was able to gather several items that told the story that remained untold since decades. One of those findings is a set of locks and keys.
These locks and keys played somewhere a defining role in the extermination camp. These locks were the ones that held innocent prisoners inside dark cells. It kept people inside the cells in freezing winter. Over the period of time these became rusty and weak but at one point in time, it was the reason why millions of people lost their lives inside those camps.
When they dug in more, they got hold on to some personal belongings. In between all the items the team of Polish and Israeli archaeologists found this ring. It was possibly a ring of one of the victims as “Behold, you are consecrated onto me” was inscribed on it in Hebrew.
The fact that this ring belonged to someone who lost his or her life in the extermination camp is a deep thought that pierces right through the heart. Who knew when this ring was gifted, by whom and to whom. Did the person who gifted this ring wait for the person to return or died in the same extermination camp?
The team of researchers knew that they'll most likely get such items but what they found when they dug deeper made them all stand there speechless. They discovered decaying bodies and what was more shocking was the number of bodies that lay in there.
The number of bodies that they dug out was making it an emotional site. Yes, the researchers knew that they'll get across some painful moments but this was making everything significantly serious for each and every member of the team. The bodies were still taken out every day.
More than millions of people died in those concentration camp and how do you feel when you know that less than 100 people manage to escape those concentration camps by the end of the war. The prisoners died for reasons like being unhealthy, being too short or too fat.
Yes, the discoveries were obvious but it made a deep impact on the minds of the researchers. They too are humans after all. Looking at those decaying skeletons left them wondering about the name of the person, where he or she was from and what were his or her last thoughts.
From the mass number of bodies, they discovered one body which is shown in the image. The body was found lying facing down as if it was thrown there. The search went on and the biggest disturbing shock was soon to be uncovered. When the researchers took a look at this skeleton, it had a hole in the skull which meant the person died of a gunshot. That's how he was killed most likely.
A vast area of the extermination camp was destroyed completely over the time span. Still, some of those horrible day's memories still lived underneath the surface. Aware of this fact, the researchers didn't stop their search there.
In the photo is one of the brick walls that was used in the foundation if the infamous gas chambers. The chambers where hundreds of people were sent who never made out of those rooms alive. The place was telling its story and with it the story of millions of those who died in that place.
In the above picture is the image of a well. Every life counts but back in those days, it meant nothing to the Nazis. This well is the evidence of the mass extermination and the people who were thrown in it just for being Jews.
Even today people have theories behind why this took place. Historian gives different reasons why these innocent people were targetted and mistreated and eventually killed. But nobody knows what actually led to this disturbing idea.
Across Europe, the lands those were occupied by the Nazis had similar stories. Some places were used for experiments, some as dark chambers, some for chaining, some for shooting the masses, some for burning, some for the burial.

All the bodies that have been found can be buried with respect once the legalities are over. The researchers put the stories to the end and finally told the world the truth of Sobibor. The place in itself is dark. And have seen a lot more than anyone's expectations.
