Human beings by nature, possess a lot of empathy. Whether it is for our fellow humans or even other species of animals, we are always ready to help. Our human nature drives us to do good towards others. This is something that separates us from other beings. However, there are some instances wherein other animals showcase this behavior. When a rabbit finds his cat pal in trouble, he acts quickly and displays his rescuing skills thrilling everyone...
Have you ever seen or met a rabbit? We may not realize that these tiny creatures are quite social beings that tend to live in large groups called colonies. They love spending time with each other and do things together. They are most busy at dusk and dawn when they go out in search of food. The low light is a good time for them to hide from potential predators...
So who are predators for these furballs? Well, they may vary and would include owls, hawks, eagles, falcons, wild dogs, feral cats and ground squirrels. Rabbits are in constant danger of meeting with these animals and they are their biggest threat. Rabbits are able to run quickly and swiftly away from enemies or rather predators. But this farm rabbit ran to be of help instead of running away...
Living in a farmhouse can be pretty exciting for an animal. They get to interact with other species and learn from each other. Dogs play with chickens, ducks play roam around with cows. So many different animals share their living space. Hence, there is bound to be something groundbreaking that happens once in a while. And on this day, it actually did with a rabbit and a cat...
So at the farm that day, nothing special was going on. It was a regular day where Chasky the white rabbit was just wasting his day away. The cute rabbit had nothing happening that day. He was just minding his own business, roaming around the farm counting his hours. Chasky the white rabbit was probably daydreaming without any expectation of how significant this day would be...
Chasky the white rabbit was was probably just dreaming of the famous rabbits that have become household names in the past. He might have been dreaming of Thumper, a friend of Bambi, or even the White Rabbit from the wonderful tale of 'Alice In Wonderland'. His other thoughts might have been about what to eat next. We all know how much rabbits love their food. His day would flip soon...
As we all know, children have always been fascinated with rabbits. We must admit that some of us, as adults, still freak out when we meet a rabbit. They are so cute and fluffy that they make it hard to remain calm when we spend time with them. They are seen as lucky animals and have severed as heroes of children’s literature for a meaningful reason.
We all know that rabbits are cute and are tiny too. But in spite of their reputation as possessing tiny brains, rabbits are one of the most clever animals. These animals are not to be underestimated. There have been a few cases where rabbits have become quite helpful and witty. A tiny cat called Pelu was stuck behind a metal wall and found out why rabbits should be given credit.
So this white rabbit had been staying on this farm for quite a while. He likes the other animals here too. And Chasky was a kind rabbit but preferred spending time alone. He would just mind his own business and go on with his daily routines. So this day, his peace was disturbed when he suddenly saw a weird sight. He could see the leg of his best buddy Pelu, a white cat.
The rabbit could see that the cat was actually calling for help. It was such a sudden shock for the white rabbit as nothing eventful took place that day. And after he saw that the leg was reaching out to him, he stared for some time, trying to understand what was happening. The leg came from behind a metal sheet which had been stuck in the ground. The poor cat had failed at attempting to escape.
And so as Chasky the adorable white rabbit was spending his days unbothered, he was suddenly met with a situation where he needed to think fast. He would have to spring into action really soon because the cat was clearly calling for someone's help. And the rabbit did not waste any time in getting a rescue team of one together.
So when Chasky saw the cat's paws he felt the immediate need to go to his feline friend's rescue. And after seeing that he had to free his friend, Chasky knew that he could not wait on others to help. He went ahead and got to work with his own amazing rabbit feet. So what did he do? He started to dig at a quick pace, moving dirt at a high speed.
And since no one was around to help the cat, Chaksy had to be the one to help. Seeing that he was the only one capable of helping Pelu, the white rabbit ran towards the metal sheet and started to dig immediately. We all know that rabbits dig their burrows, so obviously even Chasky would be an expert. And his owner named Jessica Rodriguez Fatigatti recorded everything.
So where were they from? Well, Jessica Rodriguez Fatigatti is from Spain. She has a home in Spain that is dedicated to taking care of cats and rabbits, even other animals stay there too. She had been keeping a close watch on her rabbit and when she saw that he went in for the rescue, she took out her phone right away. She recorded the rabbit who was digging furiously.
And so as Jessica was just in her home watching her pets, her attention was caught by Chasky who was digging the bole right next to the metal sheet. She was so shocked to see the rabbit's behavior and wanted to document it immediately. “When I saw that Chasky began to dig, I fished out my cell to show my husband that the rabbit was making the hole,” she revealed.
So since the day was just as uneventful for Jessica as it was for Chasky the rabbit, she was shocked to see him get into action so quickly. She later explained what happened in an interview about the happening of that day, “At that time I saw one of the cat's legs. I was surprised that my rabbit was not digging a hole for pleasure, was just doing it get a friend.”
And as we all know, rabbits usually live in burrows. They usually find a favorable spot where they dig holes to live in or slumber in. We already know how much bunnies love to dig for pleasure. You can always see one rabbit or the other, digging up a hole if you go to the park. However, as for Chasky, since he was on a mission, it was a little different.
So Chasky tried hard to make sure he did whatever he could to help save his cat friend who could not save herself after being trapped under the metal sheep. The cute rabbit's goal was to make a hole that would be big enough for the cat to slip through to freedom. There was yet another advantage that this cat had too. We all know that cats can flatten themselves, right? This helped.
And after the rabbit did whatever he could to dig deep so as to get his cat friend out of trouble, his efforts started paying off little by little. And pretty soon, the cat’s tiny white head started to appear from the hole. Being stuck in that position must have been so suffocating. And Pelu was certainly glad to get a little some breathing space, all thanks to Chasky.
So Pelu who had been under the metal sheet for a long while was slowly able to breathe properly because of her dear friend Chaksy's help. The rabbit saw that he had been able to get the cat's head out so he was excited as he knew what Pelu was capable of. He knew that cats could flatten the rest of their bodies, so he gave Pelu plenty of room to do her thing. Would she be able to get out?
And after the rabbit did what he could to dig up a hole big enough for his cat friend's head to go through, he knew he did not have to help any more. He was pretty familiar with a cat's ability. And so, the cat was finally out of the shed! She was so thrilled to finally be free from the stupid metal sheet's constraints which was definitely a prison for her.
We must have all heard of the saying, 'Curiosity killed the cat', but this was truly a flip. In this case, someone totally unexpected came to the rescue. This story proves that having a trusty rabbit as a good pal pays off. It is certainly heartwarming to see that the two animals put their differences apart and in the end, one got to save the other.
And so, when Pelu finally got free from the harsh grips of the metal sheet wall, the excitement and happiness were evident on her face. To finally escape the suffocating position and place that she was in was truly something she was happy to celebrate. And so did she run off? Well, Pelu ran to the shed, of course, to spend some time with Chasky and their other pals.
And this would have been such an unbelievable incident that most people would not even believe had it not been for Chasky’s owner. It was such a special moment and their owners were indeed happy to get the rescue on video. After this was posted on a news site, we all know the world loves a good animal rescue story, so Pelu and Chasky have fans now.
So after a few minutes of struggling to get out of the metal sheet, the cat was finally free. And she owed it all to her dear white rabbit friend Chasky. After Pelu rushed towards the shed, she when and awarded her friend a little smack of thanks. She planted one on Chasky's cheeks. Was this supposed to be a kiss?
We all know that cats can get very affectionate when they want to. So who knows if this peck was meant as a kiss from Pelu to Chasky? If ever you own a cat, you would know for sure that cats always love to nibble on you and lick you. This is their way of showing appreciation and affection. The two are so fond of each other that you can't help but smile.
And so after working so hard to get his friend out of trouble, the white rabbit could finally get some much-needed break. In the video, owner Jessica continues to record Chasky. He can be seen taking a well-deserved break and sits on the corner catching his breath. Just look at how he kicks his feet behind, resting and just reflecting on his day.
And so, after he saw that his friend was in danger, Chasky did not spare a single second. He went right into the action and helped his pal. And following the thorough digging, Chasky takes time for himself and spends some calming time in the dirt. Rabbits like him certainly deserve to get some snacks and treat because of the good deed they have done.
Here are a few interesting facts about bunnies you may not have known...
Cartoons have led us to believe that bunnies can live off of carrots alone. It turns out, rabbits in the wild actually like to eat greens like weeds, grasses, and clovers. This does not mean that carrots are out of the picture, just make sure to not overfeed them. Carrots have a high percentage of sugar and can contribute to tooth issues in 11 percent of pet bunnies.
We must not forget that all rabbits are definitely not cute and tiny. There are different kinds of rabbits like the Flemish giant rabbit that can grow to a monstrous size. This rabbit breed is the biggest in the world and can actually reach the length of 2.5 feet and some even weigh about 22 pounds. Fortunately, they are sweet and calm so they make excellent pets.
So you might be surprised that technically, baby rabbits are not called bunnies. Infant rabbit can also be called kits. An adult female rabbit is known as a doe while adult males are referred to as bucks. "Bunny," is just a word for these tiny animals, like the pet names "kitty" and "doggy". These are not scientific terms but they are used for such animals.
You will be surprised to find that rabbits really are a busy bunch. A rabbit can start mating at just 3 to 8 months old. When they reach this age, they are capable of breeding 8 out of 12 months every year for the rest of their life. A doe's reproductive system does not follow a cycle but rather dependent on intercourse. This is not something you would expect from such a cute bunch right?
If you want to know whether a rabbit is happy or not, you need to spend enough time around them. And when you do, you might get the rare chance to witness one of the cutest behaviors in nature when it comes to rabbits. A bunny sometimes hops and twists in mid-air when they are happy. This action aptly called a "binky" happens rarely.
This behavior of theirs might rabbits look a lot less adorable. Rabbits have a habit of digesting their food first, then eating their poop, processing it for another round. Their poops are actually a very significant part of their meal plan. A kind of poop called cecotropes that are softer than their normal poop are what they eat. They have a special digestive system that lets them re-digest the nutrients that might have been missed.
And so this point actually makes sense of the incident between Chasky and Pelu. Rabbits are incredibly hygienic. Just like cats do, they man maintain themselves and keep clean throughout the day. How you ask? Well, they do this by licking their fur and paws. This means rabbits do not require being given a bath by their owners.
However, although a rabbit and a cat can clean themselves, there is something that a rabbit cannot do. After self-grooming, a rabbit cannot cough up a furball like a cat would. The rabbit digestive system is physically unable to move in reverse. Instead of these furballs, rabbits would just eat plenty of roughage that would eventually move the fur along their digestive tract.
