A farmer was doing his regular work when he saw a litter of cats in the middle of his farm. He could not understand why and how these cats got into the farm. The farmer decided to keep them as they had been abandoned by their mother. But soon the farmer learned an astounding truth about them. They were not what he had thought them to be....
A Russian farmer went into his farm to check his field when he witnessed something really odd. The man had his feet fixed to the ground when he saw that weird thing hidden behind the long weeds.
This unprecedented incident took place in Russia. The man in question lived a very ordinary life until something unbelievable came his way. He used to go to his field every morning and would come back after the dawn arrived. That day too he had entered his farm to do some fixing work but came out totally different.
The man like every other day was feeding his animals while uprooting the unwanted weeds off his farm. He loved doing his job as it brought a sense of content to him. The man was not the only farmer in the town. Most of the people in his surrounding were having the same profession. However, it was only this man who came across this bizarre thing.
The man was doing his chores when he heard a strange noise coming from the middle of his farm. The noise did alarm him. He looked at his animals to check if all of them were there. Not a single one was missing from there. If all his pets were right their before his eyes then what was lurking behind the bushes? He was soon going to find out.
It could be a snake or some other wild animal. The question was if the creature is dangerous or not. Should he go ahead or not? A lot of question was swirling in his head. He kept staring at the bushes but could not make out what exactly was that. However, after a while, he decided to go and check on his own.
The man with a racing heart and curious mind paced towards the bushes. The sun was shining high but the soil of the farm was still a bit wet. He kept moving forward leaving his foot mark on the damp soul. The man finally reached the disturbed bushes.
There were some kittens roaming around behind the bushes. The man was in awe when he saw kittens. He looked around for her mother but the kittens seemed t be on their own. He thought maybe the mother cat had gone somewhere else to fetch food for the babies. So, he did let them stay for a while.
But when the dark arose he went back to the place to see if they were still there or were gone. Surprisingly, kittens were still there without their mom. So, does that mean the kittens had gone abandoned by their mother? If yes, then how did they manage to enter his field? There were a lot of questions swirling in his mind but first, he needed to find out what was he going to do with these kittens?
Well, the farmer had misunderstood the animals to be kittens. It was not a kitten but something else that for sure was beyond their imagination. The creature did look like a cat but was it really a cat or was it something else? They soon were going to find out.
The farmer was under the impression that the kittens were babies of a stray cat that must have found a space near his field. Apparently, kittens were too small to take care of themselves on their own. So, let them stay out in the dark and cold night to fend for themselves would not be a right thing to do.
The farmer assumed that they belonged to a stray cat that lived around his farm. Little did he know what the creatures actually were. It was a whole another thing. Unaware of that, the farmer decided to bring them into his house.
The presumed cats started growing under the care of the farmer and his family. The kittens too had developed an affection for them. They soon became an important part of the family. But still, the farmer and his family were unknown to the creature's true identity.
It did not take much time for the farmer to realize that the creature they had been keeping for so long was not what they thought it to be. Well, their physical features were different a great deal from the regular cats. Along with that, there was some distinction in their behavior too.
After a bit of research, they learned that the breed they had been petting in their house for so long was actually a rarely found wild cat. They came from the breed known as Palla's Cats. The cats are famous as manuls and are usually spotted in Central Asia. It was confusing as to if they are found in Central Asia how did it come to Russia?
Manuls have a larger body size in comparison to the ordinary cats. Along with that, the cats of this breed has shorter legs and a sturdy body. And they are very fluffy too. Perhaps, it is mainly because of the fluff their size seems double of the cats. The fur also helps them in keeping their body warm in extremely cold weather. The revelation did worry them a bit.
These cats are also famous for their aggressive behavior. They get provoked easily and can attack anyone. The farmer knew that and so he hesitated in keeping them any longer with them as he feared for his livestock. There were chances that the cat would kill his livestock. But there was no way, he was going to boot them out of his house. It was then he found a way out.
The man decided to give them up to Daursky Nature Reserve. It is a nature reserve located in Siberia. The reserve has thousands of animals dwelling in it. And it is because of that, the farmer thought that wild cats would be safer here. He handed them over to the reserve.
The kittens were still too small to take care of themselves and so needed a mother figure to look after them. The lack of which could have put their lives in danger. The reserve needed to find a mother for these kittens.
The rescuers managed to find those kittens a surrogate mothers. Luckily, they found surrogate mothers on time. The introduced kittens to two domestic cats that were going to look after them as a mother.
It seemed as if they knew each other for a very long time. In no time the domestic cats got along with the manul kittens. They grew so close to each other that it became difficult for anyone to analyze that the domestic cats were not their actual mother.
The cats had won over the love of Kittens. Now even the kittens had become used to of their new surrogate mothers' affection. The kittens were basking in their mother's love. They would sleep at night snuggling with each other and would play together at noon.
The manuls were growing up day by day. And with that, they were growing cuter day by day. Who could live away from those cute manuls.
And in no time, the kittens matured into wildcats. It was not good to keep wildcats in captive. They needed to be released. Hence, the authority decided to release them into the wild where they originally are from. But as they had always lived under the care of someone would they be able to survive into the wild on their own. Well, the rescuers had taken this doubt too into their account.
The rescuers decided to teach them hunting. As the cats had matured it was going to be difficult for them to learn hunting as they had not done this before. But as the time and circumstances demanded they had to do this.
The rescuers draped radio signal collars around the neck of wildcats. The collar was going to inform the rescuers about their whereabouts. And would also help them in reaching them in case any of them faces any kind of trouble.
After giving them the training, they decided to leave them into the wild with the hope that they would survive on their own. Unfortunately, the cats could not make it longer as they were still unable to hunt and protect themselves. It is because of that the rescuers had to get them back under their protection.
They provided more training to the wild cats. And just after the winter season came to an end they release them into the wild once again. And luckily this time they managed to survive on their own.
Manuls loves to hang out on trees. In summer, they move from trees to trees and spends most of their time on them only. They enjoy the warmth of sunlight on their fur.
