This Couple Was Super Excited About The Doctor Who Delivered Their Baby Dressed Up As “Joker”

4 min read

Being a mom is the world's most wonderful experience. All the moments leading to the day on which your child is about to enter the world is quite amazing. But it could get creepy if your doctor dresses up like a clown. Something similar happened with this couple.

The Excited Couple

The moment had finally arrived for this Tennessee couple, who were waiting eagerly to welcome their newborn baby to the world. Justin, 33 and Brittany Selph, 32 was super excited about it. The platform was set. The doctor and his team were ready for the process as well.

The Unexpected Arrival

Brittany Selph had her due date on November 5, but, you never know what the future holds for you. Giving birth to a baby is a difficult task, sometimes it gets delayed due to some unknown factors. As we all know with babies, they come whenever they want to - and it seems the couple's little girl had planned to come when her doctor was least expecting it.

Water broke on the Halloween Morning

Justin told Mirror Online: "My wife's due date was Nov. 5, but baby Oaklyn had other plans. Brittany woke up Halloween morning to her water leaking."

The Couple Rushed to the Local Hospital

After dropping the other kids at school, the couple finally rushed to their local hospital in Tennessee. They had an appointment at 12.30pm with their obstetrician. Dr. Paul Locus.

The "Joker" Doctor

When they reached hospital what they noticed was quite surprising. They saw that their doctor was dressed up "Joker", a character which was played by Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. "We couldn't help but laugh when he walked in the room!" Justin said.

"A Unique Delivery"

Justin continued "My wife, being the open-minded woman, with a sense of humor, thought it would be hilarious to have such a unique delivery."

A Few Hours Later...

After four hours, Dr. Locus came into their room to check if Brittany was ready to deliver, but she wasn't. He told them that he was returning home to hand over some sweets to his children and change his attire.

Brittany expected that the doc would never change his attire

My wife said: "Aww, we had hoped that you wouldn't change, but we never expected him to stay in character all day and into the night," Justin said.

All set for the delivery

"Brittany was ready for delivery at 8 pm so the nurse called her doctor in and, to our surprise, he showed up in full Joker attire, ready to deliver our baby, Oaklyn," Justin said.

An Excited Father

"There my wife is, staring the Joker straight in the eyes while delivering our baby, what a sight! I was holding her leg up and snapping pictures!" Justin said in excitement.

Sharing On Facebook

Justin explained that he was about to go Live on Facebook with the whole process, but nurse curtailed his project. The proud dad revealed how their doctor was a "great sport about the whole situation."

A Congratulatory Note

"The next morning, he came in to check on Brittany, and said: 'Sorry I couldn't make it in last night, glad to see the delivery went well.' "Joking of course. He also gave her a card of congratulations, and he signed it Dr. Joker."

Popular Among Friends and Family

Justin uploaded the photographs on his Facebook profile, which got popular instantly among friends and family. Dustin Morton commented on the photos: "This is awesome! Could you imagine that being the first thing in the world you see!? Congratulations dad looks like another perfect baby!"

Picture of the doc was uploaded on Imgur and Reddit as well

A picture of the doctor in his costume was also uploaded to Imgur and Reddit by someone. One wrote: "The fact that the gown isn’t even pulled all the way on makes me think this guy is totally legit. "That’s realistic as hell. I’ve been with OBs before, and they’re always chill as sh** at deliveries (until they aren’t, of course)."

Brittany is one strong woman

Another guy commented: "The child born will either have a horrific fear of clowns or some odd affinity toward becoming one..." Oaklyn Saige Selph was born on Halloween and her weight was 7lb 3oz. He said: "My wife is one strong, independent woman. When it became time for Oaklyn to come, it never fazed her. I never thought it would, nothing ever does. I'm a lucky husband and father!
